Best used in: Soups, Stocks, Roasts, and Stir-Frys
Bay Leaves are cooked in soups or roasts with extra broth and provide a wonderful savory flavor to the liquid. Adding only one or two Bay Leaves to your soup should be plenty due to the immense amount of flavor hidden in the small leaves.
Before adding Bay Leaves to a kitchen creation, you will find the leaf to be brittle, sharp, and dry. The leaves are not safe to eat unless they have been professionally ground to a fine powder, due to the texture of the leaves. Even soaked, wet Bay Leaves should not be eaten whole, the spines are always sharp.
